KEUCHHUSTEN is the German name for the respiratory illness pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough. This sign is dedicated to a girl, named Monika Janulevičiūtė, who died on August 23rd, 1842, from pertussis. Sadly the vaccine against this easily transmitted disease was introduced only in the 1950´s and has since saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Artwork was made as a semester task Portrait/Autoportrait in Eike König’s class, Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
